Diğer yandan Radiohead’den Johnny Greenwood ‘’ İnsanları birkaç dakikalığına olsa bile durup müziğin bugünkü değeri ile ilgili düşündürmek oldukça enteresan.İnsanlara hayatlarında değer biçtikleri veya biçmedikleri şeylere kıyasla müziğin değerini sormanın ilginç olacağını düşündük. ‘’diyor.

Sizin bu konuda düşünceleriniz nedir ?

Müziğin pazarlaması ve satışı üzerinde düşünmek istemiyorum. Yaptığınız şeye ödeme yapılmamasını sinir edici buluyorum. Artistleri müziklerini reklam şirketlerine satıp , reklam gelirlerinden elde edeceği paranın haricinde çalışamaz duruma getiriyor.

Müziğin kendisinin özgür olması için ,tüketicinin direkt artiste ödeme yapması bence en iyi yol. Mp3 playerlardan,arabalardan,müzik marketlerden değil.
Bu arada müziğe ödeme ile ilgili henüz iyi bir çözüme ulaşılmış değil.

Ekonomik kriz gözönüne alındığında dijital ortama doğru ilerleyen plak şirketleri ve müzik mağazaları için hangi gerçekler ortaya çıkacak ?

Bu konu hakkında hiçbir fikrim yok ve hiç düşünmedim. İnternetin harika olduğunu düşünüyorum.Hiyerarşi ve büyük plak şirketlerini ortadan kaldırıyor ,müziğin gelişmesine ve yayılmasına imkan tanıyor.

‘’The Knife’ın elamanı Karin Andresson’un solo projesi her zaman için önemli bir şey olacaktı.O yabancımsı,titrek ses nasıl kusursuz sonuçlar çıkarmaz ki? Ama müzikal olarak hangi yöne gideceği muammaydı.The Knife’un müzikal paletinin en karanlık yönlerine girmesi oldukça mantıklı bir karar olmuş. ‘’Data Transmission

Fever Ray için çekilen videolar çok şaşırtıcı .Sound’unuz kadar videolarınızla da kendi kendiniz zorluyormusunuz ? Bu videoların arkasındaki Fever Ray stratejisi nedir ?

Keskin vizyonu olan klip yönetmenleri bulmaya çalışıyorum,görsel yaklaşımları farklı olanları. Ve tabii ki çalışması keyifli olanları . ‘’İf I had a heart’’ parçamın videosunu çeken Andreas Nilsson senelerdir çalışıyorum,her çalıştığımızda daha eğlenceli oluyor .

When I Grow Up ‘ın yönetmeni Martin De Thurah‘ın aşağıdaki video ile ilgili açıklaması :
‘’Buradaki başlangıç fikri ,suyun içersinden bir şeylerin çıkması idi,şekle bürünen bir şeylerin.Nereye dönmesine gerektiğine karar vermeyen çift başlı bir yaratığın.Bu fikrin gerçekleştiğinda sade kalması gerekiyordu ki videodan ziyade şarkının kendisi ilerlesin .Hırvatistan’da 2 sene önce çektiğim bir resmi hatırladım. Gri sisli bir sonbahar manzarasında ,parıldayan mavi rengi ile bir yüzme havuzu ‘’

Geçmişe bakmanın bir anlamı olmadığını düşünüyorum. Yaptığınız tüm hatalar zaten internet üzerinde kayıtlı . Herşey google’dan aranıp bulunabilir.

Bize lütfen yeni albümünüzden bahseder misiniz? Albümden ne beklemeliyiz . Sound ve parçaların yapısı itibari ile The Knife albümünden çok farklı olduğunu düşünüyor musunuz ? Albümün soundunu tamamen etkileyen belirli ilhamlarınız veya duygularınız oldu mu?

Bir sene boyunca sabahtan akşamüstüne kadar hergün üzerinde çalıştığım 10 parçalık bir albüm oldu. Şarkı yazmayı ve kayıt yapmayı bitirdikten sonra 3 farklı prodüktörü çağırdım.Van Rivers & The Subliminal Kid,Cristoffer Berg bana final prodüksüyonda yardımcı oldular. Göteburg’ta eski analog bir stüdyoda dördümüz albümün mixini yaptık.Primitif ,basit ve direkt bir şey yapmak istedim. Müzikal olarak nerede olduğumu bulmaya çalıştım.Yaptığım önceki işlerle kıyas edemem ,kararı siz verin.

Bize yeni parça öncesi çalışma akışınızdan bahsedebilir misiniz? The Knife ve Fever Ray olarak çalıştığınızda hep aynı mıydı?

Bir ritim ile başlıyorum daha sonra akorlar geliyor ve en son vokaller. Sanıyorum The Knife adı altında müzik yaparkende aynı şekilde çalışıyordum.
Bize üzerinde çalıştığınız gelecek projelerinizden bahseder misiniz?

Fever Ray is the solo project of Karin Dreijer Andersson, who is one half of the Swedish electro act The Knife (the other half is her brother Olof Dreijer). Andersson was also the lead singer and guitarist for the defunct indie pop group Honey is Cool. The first, self-titled Fever Ray record was released digitally on January 13, 2009 and its first single If I Had A Heart was released on December 15, 2008.

What would you do if one decade into your career you suddenly saw one of your songs turned into a worldwide hit, won six Grammis in your native Sweden, and your latest release was declared album of the year by one of the worlds most influential music websites? If youre Karin Dreijer Andersson, formerly singer with 90s pop hopes Honey is Cool and now one half of The Knife, the answer is to take a couple of years off and return as a solo artist under a new name: Fever Ray.We had a pleasure to chat with this lady about her new album.

The Radiohead experiment of paying what you want — I disagreed violently with that,” Robert Smith told the Times. “You can’t allow other people to put a price on what you do, otherwise you don’t consider what you do to have any value at all, and that’s nonsense. If I put a value on my music and no one’s prepared to pay that, then more fool me, but the idea that the value is created by the consumer is an idiot plan, it can’t work.”

On the other hand ‘Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood’“It’s just interesting to make people pause for even a few seconds and think about what music is worth now. I thought it was an interesting thing to ask people to do and compare it to whatever else in their lives they value or don’t value.”

What is your opinion on this issue ?

I don’t like to think about the marketing or the selling of music at all. I really find it irritating that you’re not paid for what you do, it will make it impossible for artists to work without interfearing with commersial interests such as selling your music to ads. For music to be free, I think the best way is if the consumer pays directly to the artist. Not through mp3-playes, cars or broadband suppliers. At the same time there is no good solution how to pay for music yet, but I hope there will be.

Considering the current worldwide economic condition, what facts do you think will step-up for labels and stores that move through this digital platform?Do you think this “storm” will affect services like iTunes and Beatport less than other companies out there?

I have no idea about this and I never think about it. I think internet is a fantastic thing though that destroys hierarchies, major labels and makes it possible for music to grow and flow.

“The Knife’s Karin Dreijer Andersson’s solo project was always going to be something of note – how could that alien-like, trembling voice not produce excellent results? – but the direction it was to take was the source of mystery. Going to the darkest parts of The Knife’s musical palette was a sensible option indeed.”Data Transmission

Your videos are just amazing .Are you challenging yourself visiually as well as your sound? What is Fevers Ray strategy behind these videos?

I try to find video directors that have a sharp vision, a distinct visual approach. And who are fun to work with. I have worked with Andreas Nilsson who made the video for “If I Had A Heart” for many years now and it gets more fun each time.

That initial idea was something about something coming out of water -something which was about to take form – a state turning into something new. And a double headed creature not deciding which where to turn. Butthe idea had to take a simpler form, to let the song grow by itself. I remembered a photo I took in Croatia two years ago, a swimming pool with its shining blue color in a grey foggy autumn landscape.” Martin De Thurah director of When I Grow Up

If you could change anything from your history in the music business what would it be?

I don’t think there is any meaning to look back. And internet saves all your mistakes anyways. Everything is googleable.

“Electronic music – when it’s being made by natural performers, rather than solitary craftsmen – has always gone hand-in-hand with fluid identities; multiplying them, extending them, erasing them. Each medium, says McLuhan, is an extension of man; for every extension, says Baudrillard, there’s a corresponding amputation… or castration. These are the kind of dark jokes and symbolic manipulations you’d expect from Karin Dreijer Andersson AKA Fever Ray: are you entering another world… or being trapped in it?”Drowned in Sound

Can you please tell us about your new album ? What can we expect from the album? Regarding sound and structure, do you think it differs much from The Knife album? Have there been specific influences or emotions that affected the sound of the album as a whole?

It is an album with ten tracks that I worked with for a year, every day from morning until afternoon. After finishing writing and most of the recording I invited three different producers, Van Rivers & The Subliminal Kid and Christoffer Berg to help me out with the final production. We mixed all four of us in an old analogue vintage studio in Gothenburg.I wanted to do something primitive, simple and direct. Trying to find where I was musically. I can’t compare it to previous work, it is up to you to decide.

Could you describe your workflow when starting a new track? Was it always the same when you are working as The Knife and as Fever Ray?

I start with beat, some chords and then the vocal sound. I guess it is the same way as when I work in The Knife.

What upcoming projects are you currently working on?

The Fever Ray tour. we have done eight shows so far and will continue to improve the show. The Knife is working on an opera about Charles darwin that will have premiere in Copenhagen 2nd September this year, check out hotelproforma.dk.

What are your likes and dislikes about the Electronic music scene in Sweden ?

I have no idea if there is a scene, what is a scene anyway? And I am not into genres. I like Roll The Dice at the moment. And Frida Hyvönen, she’s a fantastic performer.
